Case Study

WASHINGTON STATE FERRIES

Location: Washington

Problem

Washington State Ferries commissioned three new vessels for its fleet and needed to ensure the customers had safe footing during passage from port to port. The architects and ship builders needed something customizable and durable that was easy to clean and could stand up to marine conditions and heavy foot traffic.

Solution

Amstep 700 series stair treads were installed on all staircases in each ship during their construction. Safety Yellow was chosen for high visibility. 700 series stair treads are nonporous and can stand up to foot traffic and clean easily. The first vessel went so well that all three were outfitted with the same treads.
