Rubber Stair Treads vs Aluminum

While our products can be made of many different materials, the most common questions we get at Amstep Products are about aluminum vs. rubber stair treads.

You will commonly find rubber stair treads in public places. Rubber, while popular, isn’t the best material to use for long term sustainability. Over time, heavy foot traffic will wear down rubber stair treads, meaning you’ll have to replace them sooner.

At Amstep, our non-slip stair treads are made with an aircraft-grade aluminum base with a mixture of epoxy and abrasive materials. This proves a durable and long lasting solution. Aluminum stair treads also outlast those made from vinyl, carpet, and wood.

Our aluminum stair treads are the perfect solution for busy areas such as mass transit facilities and anywhere else with high volumes of people. Additionally, aluminum stairs provide a more professional-look to your stairs than rubber, which can appear dull and cheap.

But that doesn’t mean aluminum stair treads have to break the bank. Our stair treads provide an affordable and modern option without the added teardown construction costs. These are great choices for installations that won’t disrupt daily traffic.

SERIES 700 Stair Treads

series of 700 stair treads for manufacturersHeavy duty factories, industrial areas and greasy environments need more grip; many customers turn to our 700 Series aluminum stair treads. Originally developed for use in mass transit systems, these treads can withstand the severe industrial conditions and heavy traffic. They are specially designed to disperse liquids, dirt, and other contaminants without delaminating or cracking like a lower quality rubber stair tread. These treads are offered in 8 to 11 inch depths and can be configured to cover stairs’ depths even greater than 11 inches.
